Anderson Creek Hunting Preserve NEWS ARCHIVE 2007 - 2008
Anderson Creek Hunting Preserve, LLC is located in south eastern Harnett
county on the north prong (Black's Swamp) of Anderson Creek off
of Hwy 210, between Lillington and Spring Lake in North Carolina. We are not far from Fayetteville and Raleigh.
In
an effort to share the land and knowledge of farming and habitat
for animals, the Farrar family founded Anderson Creek Hunting Preserve,
LLC on what was once the Farrar and Farrar Dairy Farm. The Anderson
Creek Hunting Preserve of North Carolina has access to 1500 acres of agriculture
and wooded land for bird hunting use, with 100 acres of additional
land converted back to wetlands which will include nature trails
and observation points for wildlife of all kinds. We will have
eight 30-40 acre blocks of land with at least 8 different styles
of habitat, from wide open fields,
to thin or thick woods, from flat lands to step and rolling hills. We feel our place will be a show case for hunting and out door recreation in North Carolina.
February 2008
Anderson Creek Hunting Preserve will be at the Dixie Deer Classic on March 6-8th, 2009.
Our next tower hunt are scheduled on February 21st, March 14th and one possibly on March 28th. Individuals and groups are more than welcome to attend. Please contact us for more information.
Deer hunting season was a success, 31 does & 8 bucks!!! See our Deer Cam pictures.
October 20, 2008
We have started our regular 'preserve' hunting season. We have many new habitats including grain sorghum, corn and native (burnt) grass lands.
Our wetland restoration has started, but will not hurt our hunting areas. We have opened up 3 new 25-30 acre tracts for hunting use.
On Sunday October 18th a group of horseback riders came out to give the horse trails a 'test ride', and then enjoyed having an informal cook out. Check out the photogallery for images of the horse trails and this ride.
While we are talking about non-hunting forms of recreation, we just wanted to remind everyone that Anderson Creek Golf Club is 2 miles from our hunting preserve. Come stay with us and enjoy hunting and golf all in the same day! What better way to spend a beautiful fall day!
September 1, 2008
We had our second Annual Dove Hunt with about 200 shooters and family attending. The Hunt was quite successful and gave us some great ideas to incorporate into our next event.
Besides dove shooting and eating, attendees enjoyed clay target practice with our new 5-stand and wobble-trap mounted on the tower. There were many interesting shots and misses!
Don't miss out on this season! If you haven't been to our facility, give us a call and we'll be happy to show you around at no cost. Bring your shotgun and enjoy a round of clay target shooting for $7.50 per box of (25) shells.

Last year was our first complete year and look forward to meeting more people and offering new experiences to everyone in the next year.
We've been working on fixing the land, we burned aprox 200 acres to restore natural habitat, making paths and food plots for both birds and deer. We are seeing excellent natural vegitation (Sandhill Wiregrass and Broomsage) coming back.
We are now raising and hatching our own birds; aprox 10,000 quail, 2,000 chuckar, 1,000 pheasants and aprox 1,000 ducks. We are also continuing with our quail and pheasant restoration program, releasing the young birds on our facility. We welcome anyone out who is interested in more information in regards to raising upland birds! Along with the start of our bird popuations, we are seeing good deer population too. For our deer hunters we now have 5 ground blinds that anyone can use (accessable to those who can not climb).
We now have completed our clay target (trap and skeet) target area. We have a '5 stand' which consists of 6 clay throwers; 2 over head at 30 ft, 1 going away, 2 coming in, and 1 crossing. 5 people may shoot at one time. The commercial wobble trap is mounted on the tower (offering a challange for even the most experienced shooter). $7.50 per round (25 clays).
Come enjoy the great outdoors in North Carolina!
We'd also like to remind everyone about our non-hunting outdoor recreational activities, from walking/hiking (even with the family dog) to horseback riding trails, and fishing! All members of the family are welcome to come experience our farm and hunting preserve.
We had a lot of people try our 'Introductory Hunting Special', many of which were father son and father daughter combinations. It was great to see an experienced hunting generation bring the next generation out to our facility, and look forward to offering the 'Introductory Hunting Special' again this season.
We had a 4H group come out and use our farm / hunting preserve for their meetings. Anderson Creek understands how important it is to give our youth these types of experiences as more and more of our land is developed. We welcome FFA , Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, 4H groups, and Church Youth Groups to utilize the educational experiences at Anderson Creek Hunting Preserve!

2007 Dove hunting season was very successful
We have now started
the Upland Game Bird season (Quail, Chucker). We have done several
guided and unguided hunts, and have now started our first fall
(preserve) hunting season from October 1st, 2007 through March
31, 2008.
GUIDED HUNTS - We now offer several guided hunts with special
packages, by licensed guides. Inquire for details with Anderson
Creek or see Mule
City Guide services.
QUAIL RESTORATION - Since spring of 2007 we have been experimenting
with Quail restoration type processes, which means we have released
400-500 quail in the open wild, and have been successful at getting
5 or 6 covies to establish themselves. If you come across one of
these covies, we ask our hunters to only take one to two birds
so they can maintain their numbers. This is Quail hunting 'southern
style'. We have also located a supplier to raise Quail in an outside
flight pen, which increases the strenght and mobility of the birds
compared to those raised indoors.
We anticipate being able to schedule tower hunts by Christmas
of 2007.
Thanks to those that have hunted with us and we hope many more
will join us for hunting in the future here at Anderson Creek Hunting
Preserve.
Please feel free to contact Anderson Creek
Hunting Preserve if
you have questions or want more information about our services.
